My friend came for dinner the other night and she hasn't been here since I got Bella. She asked about her name and I told her Bella and she said, "Hmmmm that's an odd name for a cat." I didn't think it was that odd especially considering the Twilight craze going on. That got me to wondering about odd cat names. What are some odd cat names you've heard or maybe named your cats.

Well, my one cat that I have his name is Monster. My husband named him that because when he was a kitten he was a little monster. I'd say that's not a really common name. I also had a cat many years ago named Li'l and my dad had a cat named Push.

Well, I named one of my cats Green Seven. Green for the color of its eyes. Seven for the shape of its tail. Is that a strange name for a cat?

LOL That is kind of weird sounding but makes sense after you explain why.

Many years ago, I took in an abandoned tabby. All black. I called her BB. My Malay neighbors thought that I was calling my cat Bibi which is Indonesian for 'Auntie'. What I was calling my cat was actually B.B. as in short for Black Beauty.

I don't think Bella is a strange name at all, my friend has a beautiful long hair calico called Bella. My 6 cats are called Smudge, Savage, Pawsie, Blackberry, Poppy and Tiger Paws.

I think Bella is a beautiful name, and it means 'beautiful" I had a foster named Bella, my friend adopted her and kept her name Bella.
I think ItchBee was the strangest named kitty i had. My foster soulful had been named "Tuna" by shelter staff but I changed it because she has soulful eyes.

My aunt has a dog named Bella. It's not that uncommon for a pet name. I love the Bibi story, Victor! So funny and yes, Chaos is the best name for a cat. I should have named my new kitty Chaos. That cat is crazy! My cat Kitty Love always gets snickers at the vet's office. My aunt wanted to name her new puppy Shakira and I thought it was hilarious.

Oh, my goodness! That is so funny! It's kind of strange that a guy would want to name his cat that!

    Update:

Bibi brought forth a number of litters in my home. Right on my bed. She thought my bed was the safest place for her babies. So I let her stay on my bed with her new babies until she moved them. Anyway all my cats sleep with me, so it wasn't a big deal.

Wow! Right on your bed Victor? That's kind of amazing and like a miracle happening right on your bed. Did you have to sleep around them or did you just sleep in another room? I've never heard of that, so I'm a little surprised. Cute story.

I've heard it is quite common for cats to give birth on an owner's bed if they can't find anywhere else suitable. So far my kitties seem to prefer cupboards and boxes :)

My cats (and all my pets, actually) are always named after literary or mythological characters- so I have Merlin and Scheherazade (the princess from 1001 Arabian Nights who told all the stories), altho she gets called She-she a lot as a nickname.

That's odd. "She-she" is what Chinese mothers usually say when they are urging their babies to pee. I don't suppose anyone has a cat with a nickname like "He-he"?

Merlin is a great name for a cat, my Aunt & Uncle had a lovely black cat with the name, it really suited him :)
